Close to 1,800 artists applied to play at the next edition of Tallinn Music Week

The artist application call for the international new music festival Tallinn Music Week (TMW) has resulted in 1,791 submissions from 106 countries. The highest numbers of applications were submitted from Estonia, Finland and the United Kingdom.

The 17th edition of TMW is scheduled to take place in the Estonian capital Tallinn from 3rd to 6th April 2025.

There is a notable increase in interest in the TMW, not only among neighbouring countries and across Europe, but also globally. While last year the festival received 1,640 submissions from 92 countries, the number of musicians applying for the upcoming TMW from abroad has risen to 106 countries.

Estonia tops the list with 221 applications, followed by Finland with 213, the United Kingdom with 153, Germany with 116, France with 102 and Poland with 80. For the third year in a row, France, Poland, Italy and Canada remain in the TOP 10, while Ukraine has entered the top list for the first time. There is also an increase in submissions from Germany, Sweden, Norway and the United States, as well as from the Balkans, Central and East Asia—from Kazakhstan to Taiwan—, and from artists as far afield as New Zealand and the African countries of Senegal, Sudan and Rwanda.

All applications will be reviewed by TMW’s team of music curators, which includes representatives of both Estonian and international music organisations and experts in various genres and scenes. A confirmed line-up of around 175 artists will be announced in January 2025.

As the leading showcase of “tomorrow’s music, arts and ideas” in the Baltic-Nordic region, TMW has been presenting distinctive talent from both its homeland and across Europe since 2009. TMW is valued internationally for its diverse programme, vast variety of genres and high artistic level, as well as the strong representation of the international music industry and media. The festival is attended by an audience of about 18,000 people and over 1,300 industry players each year.

TMW 2025 takes place from 3rd to 6th April in the Estonian capital Tallinn. The music festival takes place across various venues from  3rd to 5th April.

TMW 2025 tickets are on sale via TMW webshop. Festival Pass that grants access to all the music festival nights is currently available for 69 euros (end price 85 euros). PRO Pass for 195 euros (end price 250 euros) provides access to the TMW conference and DigiPRO platform as well as priority access to the music festival.

TMW is organised by Muusikanädal NGO in collaboration with Shiftworks, diverse partners and co-curators. TMW’s strategic partner in the field of music is the national music export office Music Estonia.
